"There is no possible justification for these kinds of attacks."
-- President Obama - July 8, 2016
Please join me today and in the coming weeks in prayer for the Dallas Police Officers, the DART officer and the civilians who were murdered yesterday in an ambush in the most cowardly act I have witnessed since September 11th. Please pray for their families and loved ones for comfort and healing. Please pray that the seven others who are suffering with injuries heal. Please pray that this violence stop here and stop now.
Please pray that our Democracy endure and the ignorant and violent individuals do not cause the rest of us to lose all of the progress that we have made here in Dallas and across the U.S.
Please do whatever you can do to show support for YOUR DALLAS POLICE. Wear blue. Fly the flag. Put out a blue porch light. Make coffee. Make a pitcher of ice water and offer it. Do whatever small things you can do to show these officers that they are needed and appreciated. Support your police wherever you are. They are the first responders. They are what stands between the good and the evil 99.9% of the time. Yes, some bad things have happened lately and those bad things are being addressed. They did not happen anywhere near DALLAS.
Keep in mind what these four or more conspirators have destroyed. Decades of work in downtown Dallas. Downtown has become a wonderful place to live, shop, dine, work, enjoy art, music and cultural events...now, shut down in a matter of HOURS. Police work has made it possible for us to be able to enjoy all of the new museums, the aquarium, the symphony center, Victory Park, American Airlines Center, just to name a few. Think about it. How many people are in town right now (in July) to visit our beautiful city and show their children our sites?
In prayer for our City,
Rita M. Boyd
